iWARM T is a special additive that ensures the increase of workability in order to prepare hot asphalt mixtures at lower temperatures or laying in more severe climatic conditions compared to those required in the case of mixtures without additive.
Warm asphalt mixes (WMA) produced or laid at lower temperatures offer many benefits compared to hot asphalt mixes (HMA), traditionally produced and laid at higher temperatures. Here are some advantages:
● Reduced Energy Consumption: WMA is produced at lower temperatures (typically 20-40°C lower than HMA), which leads to significant energy savings during the production process.
● Lower Emissions: The lower production temperatures of WMA result in reduced emissions of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and other harmful pollutants. This contributes to improved air quality, especially in urban areas.
● Decreased Smoke and Odors: WMA production generates less smoke and odor compared to traditional methods, making it more suitable for use in populated areas where air quality is a concern.
● Longer Haul Distances: The ability to lay and compact WMA at lower temperatures allows for longer haul distances without the mix cooling too rapidly. This means that materials can be transported from greater distances, which can reduce the need for local production facilities and their associated environmental impacts.
● Extended Workability: WMA has improved workability at lower temperatures, allowing for longer paving windows and less waste due to rework or mix rejection.
● Recyclability: WMA can incorporate higher percentages of recycled asphalt pavement (RAP) without compromising performance.
● Sustainability: By reducing energy consumption, emissions, and waste, WMA contributes to more sustainable construction practices, aligning with broader efforts to minimize the environmental footprint of infrastructure projects.
